We applaud Governor Newsom’s efforts to address past and future rental debt for thousands of Californians. The influx of funds for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program will help ensure that families with low incomes can weather the rest of the pandemic, get back on track, and thrive. However, based on recent figures, rental relief isn’t getting into tenants’ hands quickly enough. We look forward to working with the administration to better improve the Emergency Rental Assistance Program so that all Californians have a fighting chance in lifting themselves out of debt. Here is our letter to the Department of Housing and Community Development outlining necessary improvements to the Emergency Rental Assistance Program.
