In June 2023, Western Center on Law and Poverty and Consumer Law Center, Inc. settled a lawsuit against the County of Santa Clara. The lawsuit requires the County to review bills that were sent to collections between October 28, 2018, and December 31, 2021. 

• Check the date of the letter from County of Santa Clara Health System about your bill.  

• Complete an application within 65 days from the date of the mailing of the letter.  

• The application is attached to your letter or 

  • You can find an online version at https://health.sccgov.org/retro-FA  

  • Mail to: 770 S. Bascom Ave., San José, CA 95128 or 

  • Email to: [email protected] 

• Turn in verification documents (income, identity, and where you lived) within 150 days after the application deadline. 

• Receive a decision and possible refund from the County in

  6 months or sooner.
